Fast & Furious 9 has actually arrived in certain countries in the world, but UK and US fans are among those still having to wait for its cinema release.

The movie landed mostly rave first reviews and sped to a huge $162 million debut last month following its release in the likes of China and South Korea. We don”t have too much longer to wait as the UK release was moved forward, in line with the US release.
Returning director Justin Lin confirmed in November 2020 that the movie was “officially finished”, praising his crew for “working through such unprecedented times flawlessly” in reference to *waves hands* ALL THIS going on.
Some Fast & Furious fans already know the answers to mysteries such as how Han is back, where Hobbs and Shaw are at during the movie and why it took nine movies for Dom to mention his brother to his “family”.
But while the rest of us wait for those answers, here”s everything you need to know about Fast & Furious 9.

Fast and Furious 9 release date: When is Fast & Furious 9 out?
As mentioned above, Fast & Furious 9 is already out in certain parts of the world, but it”ll finally arrive in UK cinemas on June 24 and US cinemas on June 25.
The movie was delayed an entire year from its planned May 2020 release to April 2021, before being pushed back again to May and then June 2021 in the US. Fortunately, bar an extremely unfortunate series of events, those June dates won”t move.

Filming for the ninth movie took place between June and November 2019 in London, Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Thailand, and Georgia.
Fast and Furious 10 and 11 – are they happening still?
Originally, the plan was for the tenth – and supposedly final – movie to be released in April 2021. That plan was obviously changed after the delays and Vin Diesel revealed his wish that we actually get a two-part finale to the series, which is coming true.
Justin Lin will be back to direct and the movies will feature all of the main cast members for an extended last ride, as long as they aren”t killed off in the ninth movie. Diesel explained that it had to be two movies because of the sheer scale of them.
“Part of the reason why Fast 10 has to be broken into two different movies is because there”s so much ground to cover. There”s so many places and so many locations in the world that we have to visit,” he said.
Universal
There”s been no confirmation of when the final two movies might film or when they”ll be released in cinemas, but don”t expect a double helping of Fast & Furious in 2021. It”ll likely be at least 2022, or longer before the tenth movie is released.

The epic first trailer for Fast & Furious 9 arrived on January 31, 2020 and delivered a couple of huge reveals for fans.
First, it turns out that John Cena”s villain Jakob is Dom”s brother, and then the very end of the trailer revealed that, somehow, Han (Sung Kang) is back. “Nice clubhouse,” he says as he casually strolls back into Dom”s life, and it seems Letty knew that Han was still alive.

How did he survive? We”ll have to wait to find out more.
The second trailer arrived on April 14, 2021 (after a Super Bowl teaser earlier in 2021) and while we”re still no clearer on Han”s return, we do at least get more of Jakob Toretto and the threat he poses.

Fast and Furious 9 cast: Who”s coming back for Fast and Furious 9?
Most of the main cast is back for the ninth outing, so that”s Vin Diesel as Dom, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges as Tej, and Tyrese Gibson as Roman, among others.
After missing out on the last movie, Jordana Brewster is also back as Dom”s sister Mia, who is married to the late Paul Walker”s Brian. Excitingly, Brewster and Rodriguez will actually share a speaking scene in the ninth movie for the first time in the series.
“I”m really grateful that we got a chance to do that. Hopefully, we”ll continue to explore it because there”s so much to unearth there,” Brewster said.
Walker”s brother Cody has been speaking about a potential return for Brian, saying that “anything is possible” after Cody and his brother Caleb stepped in to finish his filming for Fast & Furious 7.
In fact, his character was glimpsed in the second trailer released in April 2021.

The biggest newcomer in Fast & Furious 9 will be John Cena, who was said to be playing a “badass” character in the ninth movie aka Dom”s previously-unknown brother Jakob.
Cena has teased that his character is the “greatest hurdle” that Dom and co have ever faced, while Lin revealed that exploring Dom and Jakob”s relationship was “the reason to come back”, even though he admits the family theme “has become a drinking game”.
Charlize Theron has been confirmed to reprise her villainous role (sans dreadlocks) as Cipher, while Helen Mirren is back too as Shaw”s mother Magdalene.
The ninth movie has also added Cardi B as Leysa, Anna Sawai, and Vinnie Bennett, while Marvel star Michael Rooker is playing a character named Buddy.
Peaky Blinders star Finn Cole will also star but joked that he “might be cut out of the film, for all I know” when asked by Digital Spy about what to expect from his role: “I have a small role
And as the first trailer revealed, somehow Sung Kang will reprise his role as Han, having seemingly been killed off in Fast & Furious 6“s post-credits scene.
On his return, Kang said: “It”s emotional – it feels like I”m going back to a family reunion. It”s a relationship that has been missing in my life since the last Fast.”
Han is an “integral character” to the franchise, praised Diesel, who went into the themes behind Han”s surprise resurrection. “There”s something very special and magical about the Han character,” he explained.
There is a major cameo and a “big surprise” in the movie that Diesel won”t tell anyone about. “It”s a testament to all the work that everyone has done and it”s a testament to the integrity, and it”s so awesome,” he teased.
In addition, Diesel”s son Vincent Sinclair will play a secret character, rumoured to be the younger version of Dom Toretto.
Fast and Furious 9 plot: What”s Fast and Furious 9 about?
With the first trailer came the official synopsis for the ninth movie, which is as follows: “Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon.
“This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he”s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they”ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom”s forsaken brother, Jakob.”
Diesel expanded, telling Total Film: “The theme that we”ve been playing with up until this point has been the family that you create with people from all walks of life, the family that is not blood.
“What makes the story of Fast 9 so fascinating is how that altruistic concept could neglect the family defined by blood. That”s where this story goes.”
There”s not much else we can tell from the trailer about why or how Han is back, but we have been promised that it makes sense. In addition to Han”s return, the new movie will make you “understand” the first movie more, apparently.
Since the end of Fast & Furious 8, Cipher appears to have been caught and is giving a classic villainous speech in her glass(?) cell, only she”s giving it to Jakob: “Could you kill him? Because I”m ready if you are.”
Does Jakob break her out of her cell to work together with Cipher, or is he actually the one who tracks her down? Either way, she”s got a cool magnet plane that she uses to get him out of a sticky situation.
Luckily for Dom, it seems he”s still got Magdalene Shaw on his side as she”s seen giving him some sage advice. And Helen Mirren very much enjoyed getting to drive a car in a Fast & Furious movie.
Is she the only Shaw we”re going to see in the ninth movie, or is there another surprise return on the cards? Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) wasn”t in Hobbs & Shaw, so could he be in the ninth movie or is he dead?
Other than that, the first trailer mainly just teased some of the crazy action sequences we”re in for, including Dom swinging a car between two mountains, as you do.
“Let”s just say you”re gonna question a lot in this movie when it comes to physics,” joked Rodriguez. “You”re just going to be like,
Oh, and those magnets? Justin Lin”s son came up with the idea.
There”s a possibility that Eteon, the villainous organisation in Hobbs & Shaw, could make an impact in Fast & Furious 9, but that”s just speculation for now.
What”s not speculation anymore is that the franchise is finally heading to space after long-running fan theories that it was basically the only other place it could go.
After Ludacris and Michelle Rodriguez had teased a space angle in the ninth movie, the second trailer confirmed it as it showed Roman and Tej in a rocket car. We”re not sure exactly where they go, but they”re definitely flying somewhere.
